You are invited to an in-person Orkney Field Club Talk at the St Magnus Centre on Friday 16th February 2024 at 7.30 pm.

The evening will have a microscope theme:

How the microscope reveals all: three talks on flowers, moths and rocks, with microscopes to play with afterwards:

·       Katy Firth from Stromness Museum will speak about the Ted Kellock geological thin sections digitisation project, funded by the Quekett microscopical club.

·       Alastair Forsyth will talk and show photographs of how he looks into the smaller aspects of the wildlife of Orkney - Microscopy in the kitchen - exploring the world of peedie things!

·       John Crossley will talk about Finding Orkney's rarest orchid - the secret was in the cells

Teas and Coffee and chat will be served after the talk.

For those of our members unable to travel we will record the speakers on zoom and a link will be circulated to members at a later date.
