What better way to start July than with a trip to the less-visited, small island of Wyre?

Weekday ferries offer maximum opportunity to explore, so on Tuesday 1st July we will leave on the 08:20 boat from Tingwall (via Rousay) and return on the 15:30 sailing from Wyre. Participants do need to book travel with Orkney Ferries.

We'll walk along Wyre's traffic-free road then follow a track around the shoreline. This may be rutted and stony - but the pace will be slow, looking out for birds, flora and invertebrates.

We can enjoy our packed lunches at Wyre Heritage Centre before heading up to take a look at Cubby Roo's Castle and the nearby wetland.

Sturdy footwear and all-season clothing advised, plus enough refreshment to last the day!
