BIRD WATCHING GROUP - March

by Ken O'Connor - 22:51 on 19 March 2014

Birdie Walk Wed 19th March 2014

After meeting up at the 3rd Barrier at 10 am the group decided that the weather conditions were not really suitable for the original  proposed walk as spray was already effecting the barriers so those living to the south  went home and the remainder went on to Dingieshowe,  then Newark Bay.

We may not have seen all our usual amount of birds but still managed to sight a surprising number, despite being buffeted by the wind.  There were oyster catchers, red shanks, purple sandpipers, turnstones, ringed plover, teal, merganser,  shag,  M & F Eider ducks, rock pipits, pied wagtail, lapwings,  pigeons and a few more which all made the outing worth while.

Tim's new scope was christened  where all were able to get a really  close up  super view of birds. Many thanks to everyone for braving the elements, also to Fiona & Trevor for the welcome cuppa.

Photos to follow.
