Welcome to Stromness Museum




Stromness Museum is an independent museum maintained and managed by a committee of volunteers elected from the members of the Orkney Natural History Society Museum. 




Winter Opening Hours

11.00am - 3.30pm


New objects in the museum include the name plate from the fishery cruiser Longa,  19th century tapestries from The Haven and portraits of Stromness worthies by Ian MacInnes.

Weekly ticket,  come back as often as you like for 7 days.  
Adult £4.50 (concessions £4.00)
Family (2 adults+2 children) £9.00
School pupil £1.00


The Museum moved to the building above in the mid-nineteenth century and there have been many additions since then.  There is always something new to see among our artefacts which are of national and international significance.  

Running costs are met from entrance fees, donations and grants.
