Orkneycommunities has received a request for help from The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association:

"Guide Dogs is currently looking for support from community groups on Orkney to help us with a fundraising bag pack at Tesco in Kirkwall on 16 and 17 September.

We were offered the days by Tesco, but as we only have two volunteers on Orkney at the moment, will be unable make sure of the opportunity without some support.

We would ideally recruit 12 - 15 people to cover the tills for the 10am - 4pm slots for each day. We wouldn’t expected people to do the entire day so would look to split it into shifts.

Guide Dogs volunteers are really important to us and without their support, we simply couldn’t provide our service. The lifetime cost of a guide dog from birth to retirement is nearly £50,000 and we currently have over 500 guide dog partnerships in Scotland.
