ONFA AGM

The Annual General meeting of the Orkney Norway Friendship Association was held on Mon Jan 18th 2010 at 7.30 pm in the King Streeet Halls. There was a good attendance with some former committee members as well as some new faces in the audience. We were pleased to welcome our Honorary President Ian MacLeod and his wife Elma as well as Norwegian Consul Bill Spence and his wife Sue. We wish Bill and Sue well on their exciting holiday to New Zealand.

After the reports we were delighted to welcome a rather breathless  Ragnhild Ljosland who is also the lead female character in "The Pirates of Penzance" and who had run from her rehearsal to speak to us!

Ragnhild gave us a most infomative talk enhanced by some interesting slides, and her enthusiasm for everything she does came across to the audience so it was a most entertaining delivery. This was followed by a delicious supper where we had the opportunity to speak to each other and catch up with old friends, and while some loyal supporters tidied up we had a short meeting of the new committee.

Following the suggestion of our secretary, John Mowat, it was decided to give the takings from the Raffle to the Red Cross for the Haiti fund.
