Welcome to our website, Orkney Badminton Association promote badminton in the Orkney Isles which are located a few miles off the north coast of Scotland.
Affiliated to the Scottish Badminton Union, we hold internal leagues and compete annualy against the neighbouring counties of the Shetland Isles and Caithness from the Scottish mainland.
There is a large contingent of junior players in Orkney who play and also compete in Inter-County matches at under 13, 15 & 18 age groups.
Support Marty & Bruce!
Bruce Ruthven and Marty Flett are cycling 500 miles from CLAN Kirkwall to CLAN Aberdeen and back again. They leave CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen & North) Kirkwall at 2.30pm on Friday 18th May heading for the Hamnavoe in Stromness. Northlink have kindly given them and their support vehicle & driver free return passage on the ship.
The guys will cycle down on Friday night and Saturday arriving at CLAN Aberdeen at lunchtime on Sunday. They will spend the night at CLAN, leavng early on Monday morning and catching the 7pm ferry back to Orkney on Tuesday evening. We expect them to be back at CLAN Kirkwall around 9.30-10pm on Tuesday night.
To support the guys, there will be a group in Aberdeen cycling on static bikes 250 miles and Alex from Cycle Orkney will be organising the same here in Kirkwall - if you want to cycle a few miles on the static bikes on sunday 20th May, please contact Alex at Cycle Orkney.
