Blackwood Foundation Design and Technology workshop 24th August

The Blackwood Foundation and Capability Scotland are running a series of workshops in Autumn 2010 - the first of their kind in Scotland. They want to talk to disabled people about design and technology and find out what works for you at home.

The Orkney one takes place in Kirkwall on the 24th August and more details can be found by contacting Suzanne Crow by phone on 0131 317 0176, or by email at SuzanneC@mbha.org.uk. Attendees will have travel expenses recompensed, and receive 25 pounds worth of shopping vouchers as a thank you for taking part. Pre-registration is necessary, and can be done by contacting Suzanne.

In the workshops they will talk about design in the home. This could include structure and layout, fixtures and fitting, aids and adaptations and even household products. They want to know what works well, what doesn't work, and what could be improved.

They'll also talk about technology products and the internet and want to know the same sort of thing, what's good, what's frustrating and what should exist that doesn't?

They are looking for people with a physical and/or sensory impairment to take part in these workshops, which will be interesting, informal and fun.

How will it work?

There will be two workshops each day - the morning session (10am - 12.30pm) will be about design and the afternoon session (1.30pm - 4.00pm) will be about technology. You can sign up for the morning session, the afternoon session, or for both. Whichever you come to, they'd like you to join them for lunch at 12.30pm.

All venues are physically accessible. Just let them know if you have any additional requirements.
