It's a good time of the year to migrate...
... your old style Orkneycommunities website to the new style ones packed with extra features that we have been offering since the start of 2007. A number of sites (lets not mince words- 43) have still to take advantage of this, which is a shame as the new sites offer so much more, and are actively being developed.
We've also provided a lot more help information in the form of an interactive CD which links to a test site to try things out on, and has movies showing how everything works, and to get a copy of this email contact@orkneycommunities.co.uk and we'll send one out or leave a copy at reception in VAO.
To have a fly look at the content (except the movies- they are big files) go to http://www.theheddles.co.uk/training.
Also, if there is anything that is holding you back from migrating, or if you think a group training session would be a good idea, give us an email on contact@orkneycommunities.co.uk.

Webmasters! Are your contact details up to date?
We'd like to remind all the webmasters of Orkneycommunities sites to contact us if the contact details for their group changes. This can typically (and often) happen when a new webmaster takes over, and also if the office bearers for the group changes.
If you think this might apply to you, please send an email with your contact details to contact@orkneycommunities.co.uk. It'll allow us to keep you up to date with the new stuff we have planned for the near future, and also gives us the chance to ask you what you want.

Soroptomists meet to bag some bruck this weekend
Members of Soroptimist Clubs from the north of Scotland are in Orkney this weekend to bag some bruck.
The service club for women in business, management and the professions is trying to raise the profile of the organisation in Orkney, in the hope of starting a Soroptimist International club here. One of the aims of SI is to work towards creating a safe and healthy environment, so the women will be collecting rubbish at Warebeth Beach, Stromness, from 10.30am on Sunday, a week ahead of the official Bag The Bruck weekend.
Anyone interesting in finding out more about Soroptimists is welcome to join them at the beach. If that does not suit, call Margaret Carr on 07786 943 712 to find out whether you can meet them at another time during the weekend.
To find out more about the organisation visit the website of the Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland at http://www.soroptimist-gbi.org
