April 1915 was the first month in the Great War in which Orkney lost more than a couple of fatalities in war service.  Link below is to a pdf that gives brief details of the five Orcadians (and face photos of four) who died as a result of fierce fighting in Flanders and Gallipoli in April 1915.  The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has the wrong date (14th April) for the death of Tom Anderson, so a correction will be asked for in the coming months - after a copy of his service records is obtained from Canada.  The CWGC does not record the deaths of two Orcadian Mercantile Marine sailors in early 1915.  William Irvine of Kirkwall fell overboard into the River Thames from SS Edina on 10th January 1915 and was drowned.  Magnus Norquay of South Ronaldsay died of injuries after fell into a hold of SS Tynemouth in Cardiff docks on 26th March 1915.  The biographies of William Brass, James Cooper and James Moodie are available in the website Memorials section.
