East double win against the West

Two excellent results for the East teams after playing the West in the annual games.

The ‘A’ boys simply overpowered the West boys to the tune of 15-3. It is 16 games now since the last West win. It is 34 wins for the East and seven for the West. It was a bit closer in the ‘B’ game, but the East boys played well and won 8-4, so I think the future of darts in Kirkwall is in very good hands.

The overall score is East 12, with seven for the West.

It is still very tight at the top of the Williamson’s ‘A’ League. All three top teams had comfortable wins last week.

The Legion remains in pole position after a 10-2 defeat of the Nomads, who remain in second bottom spot.

The Golf Club also won 10-2 so didn’t lose any ground. They beat Quoyburray, who are in last place.

The Commodores beat the Wanderers 8-4 to stay in third spot, but three points off the top and there are only two games to play.

The Untouchables played well to beat the Quoyburray ‘B’ 10-2 and there was an 8-4 win for the Untouchables ‘A’ over RBLM.

Sanday beat the Sands ‘2’ 9-3.

A dramatic change in the Williamson’s ‘B’ League as, with only one game to go, the Legion Arrows took a three-point lead after the St Ola were held to a six-all draw by the Murray Arms.

The Arrows, meanwhile, were beating the Muppets 9-3. Tankerness had a good 7-5 win over the Shore, but went down 7-5 to the ’Hope boys.

The Masonic moved clear of the wooden spoon area with a 7-5 defeat of the Bilco Boys, who hold the bottom spot, level with Shapinsay, who have two games in hand.

180s this week came from: Alan Gray, Wilfie Tulloch, Billy Ward, Gary Wilson, Derek Firth, Mathew Wylie, Scott Walls, Robbie Norquoy, E. Rendall, Derek Firth, Ivan Leslie, Malcolm Coghill, R. Findlater, Derek Manson and three from Robbie Stanger and Brian Moar.

High checkouts of 100 from Trevor Shearer, Craig Taylor and Paul Firth; (103) Derek Manson; (104) Martin Peace and Cammy Scott; (106) Ivan Leslie; (115) Neil Croy; (117) Ian Findlay; (136) Roy Foubister and Brian Moar and (148) Derek Ward Snr.

Ian Linklater had two scores of 177.

There will be a committee meeting on the evening of Wednesday, April 8.
