Three cups in a week

Three cup were played for last week in the KDDL, all with the 301 double start format.
Seven of the 12 ‘A’ teams entered for the Knight Cup.
The Commodores — the defending cup holders — couldn't field a team, so a new one would be crowned and, after some splendid darts, the Golf Club and Wanderers battled it out for the trophy, with the golf boys winning 4-2.

One more team came forward for the Seatter Cup, for the ‘B’ teams, with eight of the 12 making their way to the Masonic.
With the holders Shore ‘2’ no longer playing, new winners would be crowned and, after some very close games, St Ola squared up to Tankerness in the final.
After winning the play-off game, St Ola emerged victorious.

The third cup of the week saw 24 players enter for the Tom Notman Singles.
It is in honour of Tom, who was a founder member of the KDDL, serving one year as secretary, then ten as president.
The defending champion was Bruce Moar, and he made a solid start to his defence, until the quarter-finals, when he met the player he beat in last year's final — Robbie Stanger.
This time, Robbie won and made it into the final, by beating Brian Moar in the semis.
In the other semi-final, Kevin Gray beat Iain Wilkie and, in the final, Kevin took the first game. But Robbie struck back, and took the next two to win 2-1.

It is back to league business now, with the next big game the annual East v West in the Legion club on Friday, March 28.

The East A team is: Non-playing captain Crag Taylor; Stevie Linklater; Kevin Gray; Ivan Leslie; Derek Firth; Neil Croy; Iain Wilkie; Michael Bain; Brian Moar; Roy Foubister; Robbie Stanger; Bruce Moar; and Alan Gray. Reserves: Billy Ward; Leigh Shearer.
The East B team is: Non-playing captain Jim Scollie; Brian Stevenson; Raymie Rendall; Scott Walls; Brett Dickenson; Gary Wilson; Paul Firth; Ryan Tulloch; and Graham Louttit. Reserves: Wilfie Tulloch; Michael Montgomery.
Reserves are requested to attend, and any player unable to play should let the team captain know.

There were not many 180s, but two each from Callum Miller and Derek Firth, and five from Kevin Gray, which takes Kevin to 50 for the season, and only two off his record score of last year.
High checkouts: 108 Billy Eunson; 110 Kevin Gray; 120 Jimmy Miller; 121 Bruce Moar; and 131 Derek Firth.
The next committee meeting is on Tuesday, March 25, in the Masonic at 8pm.
