Shore win Seatter Cup

THERE was no change in the entry numbers for cup games, with only four ‘B’ League teams entering for the Seatter Cup but, at least, it was the top four league teams.

The darts were  of the highest standard and even included a nine-darter from Ian Findlay – but don't get excited – it was a 301 double start competition. Still it's a good throw. The final was pretty one-sided, with the Shore beating the Murray Arms 4-1.

Let’s hope for a good turnout on Friday, for the first of the ranking points games. It is being played in the Royal British Legion, with names in by 7.30pm. It is open to all registered players.

In the Williamson’s ‘A’ League, the Legion set another record on becoming the first team to register three whitewashes in a row by beating Wanderers ‘B’ 12-0, and with the Untouchables beating Untouchables ‘a’ 11-1, it is looking like a two-horse race, and they meet each other next week.

The Commodore kept in the hunt with a good 8-4 defeat of the Wanderers and first points for Meadowbank after beating the Golf Club 8-4. Still no joy for RBL2 as they went down 9-3 to Quoyburray ‘B’.

The Murray Arms kept clear in the Williamsons ‘B’ League, defeating Sands ‘2’ 11-1. The Fanooks are only two points off the top in second place, after beating Shore ‘2’ by 8-4, but Sanday are still very much in the hunt and are in third place after their 9-3 defeat of Deerness. The Shore are also in the hunt, picking up points with a 9-3 win over Bilco Boys and the Sands are well-placed after taking out Tankerness 7-5.

There were 180s from Steven Tulloch, Andrew Watson, Roy Foubister, Ian Wilkie, and two from Stevie Linklater and Neil Drever had a 174.

There were high checkouts of 103 from Derek Firth, 106 from Keith Brumpton, 115 from Stevie Linklater in a 12-dart leg, 120 from Paul Foubister, 122 from Derek Ward and a138 from Ian Linklater. Last week’s 160 from Mike Bain took him to the top of the highest checkout table.

The next committee meeting is on Wednesday, October 27, at 8pm, in the Masonic Club.
