Fifth cup win for Legion

Another good turnout for the last of the dual 'A' and 'B' cups, the Henderson Cup, which attracted 49 players, making up 11 teams, nine 'A' teams - only Quoyburray missing - and the top two 'B' teams, RBLM and the Murray Arms.

They both lost out at the first hurdle, with RBLM losing in the play-off game with Quoyburray 'B', and the Murray Arms did well to take two games off the Untouchables.

By semi-final time, it was the two Untouchables teams in the one semi-final, and the Commodore against the Legion in the other.

Both games went to the play-offs, with the Untouchables and Legion both winning 4-3 and that was the score in the final, with the Legion winning 4-3, to give them their fifth team cup of the season.

The fifth ranking event, the E. R. & T. Craigie Singles Cup was played out in the Quoyburray. (See full report)

The next ranking event is on February 24, the League Doubles in the Legion.

There were lots of 180s, from Derek Firth, Neil Drever, Sean Stanger, Brian Moar, Ian Wilkie, Martin Peace, Robbie Stanger, Michael Moodie, and two from Ian Linklater, Ivan Leslie and Kevin Gray, and that keeps Kevin out in front with 19, closely followed by Ivan on 17.

There were high checkouts of: 101 from Paul Foubister and S. Craigie; 102 from Kevin Gray and 106, 116; 105 from James Flett and Michael Muir senior; Ian Linklater also had a 101; 106 and 116 from Robbie Stanger; Ivan Leslie 110; Sean Stanger 126, and 154 from Michael Moodie.

The next cup game is the 'B' League Doubles on Friday, February 17, in the Masonic Club at 7.30pm.
