League action continues

The Williamsons Butchers sponsored KDDL season rolled into week 4 of the league season last week and serious signs are emerging that the standard of darts is returning to pre-COVID levels. Sanday remain in top spot following the narrowest of victories over the Legion in a terrific match that wowed those watching the results come in live on the Orkney Darts Facebook page on monday night. Eleven 180s were registered with most coming from the Legion, but six out of the seven high checkouts recorded came from Sanday, which was the decisive factor in a high quality match. Elsewhere the Untouchables and OGC continued to push hard with wins over Bilco Boys and Exiles respectively.

Early indications are that Tankerness will be the 'B' league's team to watch as they maintained their 100% win record. The Muppets and Murray Arms continue to keep pace, just two points adrift, followed by the Sands who had a fine win over an experienced Quoyburray side.

The Legion plays host to the third of this season's ranking competitions on Friday night. Named in honour of our late great secretary of 50 years, the Jim Scollie Masters is always a cup everyone would love to have their name etched onto.

Then it's back to the Legion a week on Friday for the 'B' league boys, as they contest the first of this season's 'B' ranking competitions, the Albyn Video Games Singles. Points awarded in these three cups are added onto any accrued in the main ranking events, with the top 12 'B' players claiming a place in the 'B' county match, looking likely to take place at the start of May.

180s came from: Billy Ward, Brian Moar, Alan Gray, Paul Foubister, Alan Findlay, Wayne Monkman, Edrian Skea, Martin Peace, Alistair Rendall, Ian Findlay (two), Daryl Robertson (two) and Kevin Gray (four).

High finishes came from: Edrian Skea 100, Jamie Drever 100, Brett Dickinson 100, Aaron Mitchell 104, Ally Linklater 113, John Thomson 118, Robbie Stanger 120, Kevin Gray 120, Paul Foubister 121, Iain Wilkie 124, Dennis Watt 129, Alan Gray (101 & 116) and Brian Moar (108, 118 & 119).
