New season about to get underway

10 people attended the KDDL AGM in the Legion Blue Room on August 25, 2022.

The 9 Committee members remain the same but with Craig Taylor stepping down as President with Robbie Norquoy taking on the presidents role and Kevin Sarling becoming vice president. Robbie thanked Craig for his many years of excellent service as the league president on behalf of the league. Craig joined the committee back in 1995, and has been president since 2004.

The 2022-23 committee is: president Robbie Norquoy; vice-president Kevin Sarling; treasurer David Henderson; secretary Brian Moar. Committee members: Craig Taylor, Ian Linklater, Stevie Linklater, Richard Polson and Alan Brown.

Williamsons butchers have kindly agreed to sponsor the leagues once again.

The A league consists of 6 teams, playing each other 4 times and with no relegation. The B league has 10 teams, playing each other twice with the top 2 gaining promotion.

Suppers remain at the venues discretion but with less venues now offering them. Teams are encouraged not to postpone games unless absolutely necessary to save venues potentially losing out by opening up and putting on staff unnecessarily.

The only other big change, which will take place for NEXT season's registration (not this season), is that B teams will be allowed to register 8 players instead of the current 6.

Cup fixtures will be posted in the next few days, with league fixtures shortly after. The season kicks off on Mon 5th September with the Allied hotels cup.

A league: Legion, OGC, Untouchables, Sanday, Bilco Boys and Exiles

B League: Murray Arms, Sands, Tankerness, Quoyburray, Shapinsay, Young Loons, Vikings, Skippers, Shandy Bass and Muppets

B LEAGUE REGISTRATION UPDATE:

Following a request from one of the B teams following the AGM the committee have discussed the option of bringing forward the ruling first discussed at the AGM to allow B teams to register 8 players as from next season, and it's been decided to allow it for this season now too which should help minimise B league postponements.

All 8 players can be involved in one night, no difference from when it was just 6.
