Perhaps another picture of the dedication of the 1939-1945 War Memorial as shown in picture #10392 and picture #9695. The tree is in leaf which suggests it is not November, and in picture #10392 there is a gentleman with a white armband too.

I rather think you have it right Paul. My main interest is in the gent between "The Colours". He was my grandfather Jim Whyte who was head cooper at Highland Park. Another connection to the distillery is Tom Gilbertson who was Customs and Excise man, he is the conductor in this photograph. To his right behind the music stand is Norman Brass, whose Grocer shop stood on the corner of Main Street & Union Street and was demolished with the widening of Clay Loan.
Next to Norman is Edwin Burgess who stayed next door to Jim at 38 Clay Loan before marrying. Next left, I think, is Johnnie Morrison who was van driver to the Glaitness Road Laundry with Mrs Jim Stanger over his right shoulder. The girl in side profile I think, is a Leask, Mrs Jim would know. I have to agree Jim Harrison is the gent with white arm band. Perhaps a young Bob Tullock on Broad Street at right of BB section, glancing to the left. I hope this jogs some memories, great photo.

Ian you are correct with the names except Johnnie Morrison- I worked with Johnnie
at the laundry and that is not him. I dont think he was in the town band I am sure of this. Bob Harrold, have a look at picture #2687 and correct me if I'm wrong.
by the way pictures 2614&2615 is Bob Harrolds father.
