Sutherland's shop, Back Road

Alan sends in this picture scanned from a slide taken by Andy Wylie, his father in law, in 1962.

The buildings are the same but their uses have all changed, with Pat Sutherland's now serving as a beer store for the Albert, and the stone building on the left now Buster's diner, with a flat upstairs. Where the chiropodist's is now was then WR Tullock's petrol pumps, and it is curious to think that Jeck Miller's petrol station was right next door at the Kiln Corner (see picture 285).

I assume the garage for Tullock's was on the Ayre Road as shown in picture 194, and their showroom can be seen in a forthcoming picture, where Croy's currently have their furniture showroom on the Back Road.
