Restored gatepost

This was taken in August 2012. It is the restored gatepost of Snelsetter Castle, which no longer exists. The other gatepost is just a pile of stones in the grass. If you look on Google maps streetview you can see an image of what it looked like before restoration, as this has not yet been updated (Sept 2012). As you can see it is true to the original.

I might tell you the other gate post ended under one o the new sheds built at the "Bueth"!! I doot such an act o historic vandelisem wid be looked at in a very serious light in todays world, tae Walter hid wiz a handy roo o stones!!.
Having said all this its nice to see the piller all rebuilt well done that builder.
And ofcourse the precast concreat posts beside the piller have an historic intrest aswell, they came from WW II air raid shelters of which there were hundreds on Hoy these precast sections must have been shipped into the Island by thousand o tons.
