This elegant figure surely has to be man-made. At first sight it's hard to be absolutely certain whether it's raised or incised into the stone. (Thanks for telling us it's stone Cathleen, though I suppose it couldn't be anything else.) Looking at the traces of shadow on the stone's surface I'd say the sun is to the right and therefore the figure is raised. Which in turn means so much more work for the sculptor I can hardly believe it. As to what it is, where and why, I'm stumped. But a nice thing in itself.

Yes Ian this is one of the things that intrigued me about this photo. Even though I know which it is I still sometimes see it as raised, sometimes incised. How do other folk see it? Anyone know where it is?

Cathleen is it raised or incised? I see it raised in this photo but my husband sees it incised.

It is incised Barbara. Although I know this I still see it as raised sometimes!
