Cinderella

Possibly the same production as picture #26276. Printed on the mount of this photo is: 'Cinderella or "Phew, It's Warm" Panto-revue. Staged by Kirkwall Y.M.C.A. Entertainment Sub-committee, Temperance Hall, Kirkwall, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 20th, and 22nd March, 1922. Photo by J. W. Sinclair, Kirkwall.' Sitting on either side of the boy in the centre of the stage are my great-aunts Violet (left) and Ella (right) Flett.

Comments:
Paul, I think I can put you right with the name of the "boy" in the middle. I'm sure he is the late Jackie Walls who in later years was to be the mainstay in future K.A.O.S. productions.
I must admit I wouldn't have recognised Violet or Ella,in this, even although I worked with the latter many years afterwards.

The 2nd violinist from left seems to be wearing a bow-tie with a soft collar - quite avant-garde for 1922. The first violinist and the conductor (and maybe the cellist) must be wearing white ties.
Expertly taken photo, with good, even lighting from front to back. Photographer on a stepladder?

This picture was taken in The Temperance Hall as Paul says, the building still known as The Arts Theatre in Mill Street and probably viewed from the balcony.
The gentleman conductor in the centre front is one of the Flett gentlemen from "Flett and Sons",which one I am not quite sure.
The gentleman with the double bass is ,I'm almost certain, Bill Costie, another very well known business man in his day.
This would have been the Kirkwall Amateur Orchestra which was formed especially to play in this particular production and was to appear in future years at all af the Amateur Operatic Societies productions, which started in 1925.
