Bricks from the Black Building

These are some of the bricks from the Black Building, they would have been brought up from Edinburgh.I assume that "NIDDRIE" & "PRESTON GRANGE" would be two brick making areas?

Are any of the factories still there?

Right both places had famous brickworks in the 19th and 20th century. Niddrie Mill Primary supposedly the last building to be build with bricks from Niddrie (now a suburb of Edinburgh) shall now be turned into appartments according to a Scotsman news a couple of days ago. Prestongrange brickworks nowadays are part of a fantastic industrial museum in East Lothian.

Not there anymore. I think the brick manufacturers had a close affiliation to the coal mining industry. When the pits started closing then the brick manufacturers would've started going out of business.
