Comments:
I am Danny's son and have my own copy of this photo. I know it was taken much later than stated. He is holding my mother's camera and, as he was married in 1931, this would date the photo to around that time.

Don't follow Stuart's reasoning as to date of photo, but agree it's much more likely to be 1931 than 1915. (Still not convinced it isn't actually Charlton Heston and James Caan in the pic.)

Thought you were going to say Prince Charles as my granny Catherine Grieve nee Lyon used to say to us when we were bairns that we were related through the Bowes Lyons. A few years ago Isaac Moar's daughter Mary told me that a gentry chap came up and stayed in a big house near the Strynd in Kirkwall and the Bowes family needed a servant girl so a Lyon lass was employed and he was supposed to have had his wicked way with her and a baby was born and that is where the Bowes Lyon name came from. Always a few skeletons in the cupboard. Maybe need to go on the TV programme "Who do you think you are" to find out if there is any truth in the story! :-)
