Tom Scott sends in a photo "Scapa Beach", taken in the late fifties from the same viewpoint as Picture No.23 "Scapa Seaplane Station". Scapa Distillery in full production can be seen in the left distance, a sight we hope to see once again.

The brown hut to the far right of the picture, in the middle of the bay must be what is now Scapa Haven, the house where I grew up, and which last time I checked was white, with a red roof and green doors (though they were blue when I lived there). As far as I know it began life as a wooden hut, and was moved further back from the road, breezeblocked in and had extensions added to the front and rear...

No "smokeless" peats at Scapa Distillery !

No kiln to burn peat either. That will be a badly adjusted boiler starting up.
