When researching my Great Great Grandfather, Daniel Budge, born around 1815 at Hottit - or St Margs Hope,(son of Andrew Budge and Barbara Rosie)I arrived at this web site. I enjoy the pictures and the stories. I see surnames that are in my family tree. Daniel was supposedly a Ship's Carpenter and he "jumped ship" (the barque "Royal Consort") at Sydney Cove November 1840, changed his surname to BURGE to "hide"; he wed a bounty immigrant passenger who was on that voyage. I will be visiting Orkney 2013 but I am not looking forward to the climate change from east coast Australia to your weather! I enjoy a beer or 2 on a hot day and most every day here is hot.
