A Seal Pup Walk in South Ronaldsay

This year, we decided to go and look for seal pups along the coast north-westwards from Burwick. Anne spotted our first seal pup within about 20 metres of our cars, which was a bit of a surprise - it was nestled up in a crevice, having presumably hauled itself up over some very sharp and uncomfortable looking rocks. We then set off along the path from the ferry terminal and, at most coves along the way, we encountered groups of seals with pups which we could watch from the cliff top without disturbing them. The pups were at various stages of development, with some looking fairly newly born with white or yellowish coats and others, considerably more rounded in shape, beginning to moult their white coats.
After enjoying this wonderful annual sight, we enjoyed a warming drink at John's house, which was much appreciated!
