Evie, Firth & Rendall Churches

Welcome to the pages of the Evie, Firth, and Rendall Church of Scotland linked congregations in Orkney.

Although Firth Church in the village of Finstown is perhaps in the third biggest community in Orkney, it still represents a comparatively small number of people. In the linkage Firth is the largest of the three congregations. Evie and Rendall serve smaller rural-area communities. Sunday and other worship services might be described as 'low church' or 'evangelical' in style, but they represent places where there is a welcome to all whatever their personal preferences and traditions.

In preaching and teaching, as in our lives, the Word of God is central, and we endeavour to live and worship by it. We uphold the orthodox teaching of the creeds and confessions of the Church, especially as expressed in the Church of Scotland's subordinate standards of the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

We believe that fellowship as Christians together is very important, too, and so there are various activities designed to enable this. Not only that, some events are also intended to reach beyond the congregation to members of the community at large or to provide spiritual sustenance and nurture to the congregations.

All the meetings in our events calendar are open to anyone, although some of them may have more selected appeal - for example, youth groups may not be the choice of senior citizens, but they would be welcome!

Our pages are constantly changing so we suggest that you revisit us again soon.

You will find additional documents, particularly of sermons and studies in our library.

If you can't find what you expected on any of our pages, please contact us for more information.
