The Army Cadet Force is open to boys and girls 12 years of age and attending Secondary education up until they reach the age of 18 years.

The Orkney Battery consists of two detachments. We train Wednesday evening 7 pm - 9 pm at the TA Centre and one weekend a month. In summer cadets participate in outdoor activities and take part in competitions on the Scottish Mainland. Training during winter takes place in Kirkwall and includes Drill, Shooting, First Aid and indoor sport along with other activities.
We attend a two week annual camp with the 1st Battalion The Highlanders ACF on mainland Britain during the school summer holidays.

All cadets can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Senior Cadets have the opportunity to obtain a BTEC in Public Service.
