Woodland box

Every school has received a ‘woodland box’ from Orkney Woodland Project. This box contains a great collection of information, fun and ideas for all sorts of projects.
Please get in touch with Jenny if you want to do any classroom or outdoor work based round trees.

Each box contains :

  • several books for different ages
  • a range of identification guides
  • sets of local tree identification cards
  • sheets on Orkney’s native woodland
  • all the project leaflets
  • assorted information and activity sheets
  • a jigsaw, tree sudoku and other games
  • viewers and hand lenses
  • soil testing kit
  • a clinometer
  • a flower / leaf press
  • assorted posters including local ones
  • a challenge

There is also a ‘floating’ box available to anyone who wants to borrow it for any outside school activities.

Needing trees for school grounds? Orkney Woodland Project may be able to help.

We are delighted to again have received funding from the Woodland Trust Scotland to provide a limited number of trees for schools and community projects for spring 2013. We can therefore provide tree packs tailored to the local conditions. (telephone 811231 or email jenny@jtlarch.co.uk)

These special tree packs replace those offered direct from the Woodland Trust, including the 'Jubilee' packs, so please get in touch with Jenny as soon as possible if you want some for the coming season.
