A Thriving and Connected Voluntary Sector The voluntary sector plays a large part in helping to create a strong, caring community  in Orkney.  Voluntary Action Orkney supports this tradition by bringing together resources and expertise, working with the community to ensure a thriving, sustainable and healthy voluntary sector for the future. We will:

	promote			Orkney's voluntary sector at local and national level Volunteering as a life choice

	support			By providing specialised knowledge and expertise to the voluntary sector By offering advice and information to everyone interested in volunteering

	inspire			Organisations and individuals to achieve their full potential Community involvement

	develop			The role of the voluntary sector through partnership working Inclusive volunteering opportunities

VAO exists to represent and support the voluntary sector; to assist organisations coming together for common purposes; and to enable local people to gain access to decision making processes which affect their communities.
