Nine of us got together at Hoxa in wonderful weather this afternoon. While there was a haze, the sun shone and there was plenty to photograph apart from the view. There should be lots of concrete to see in the photos next time as there is an awful lot of war time remains on the headland. We had a very nice meander and followed up with tea at the new tearoom at Hoxa. The cake was lovely and I suspect that there will be more trips there before Summer is done.
We viewed the photos of Lyness. The Pelamis wave machine seemed to have caught everyones eye but various other bits of the museum were to the fore too, including a cartoon for the ladies and a stern warning that "Carless talk costs lives" with Hitler wall paper ! The "Red/Blue" project had a red 1.5 ton mooring bouy ,sandstone from the Cathedral, a couple of red heads and flurry of red phone and letter boxes. Pride of place was shared by Richard's Red car by the entrance to Bridge St and Hilary's Red Desiel pump up at Isbisters with her Blue car adding the correct amount of colour in the background !
The next trip out will be Hilary's trip to Stroma on 30th June. She will be sending out instructions out about times, prices arrangements etc to those who have told her they want to go. I understand the boat is fully booked up now.
Keep clicking in the fine weather, Tim
