U3A Walking Group - January 2019

by Tim Wright - 17:55 on 10 January 2019

Ten of us met up at Newark Beach for a very pleasant walk around to the picnic site near the three large windmills and back along the road to the beach once again and thence to the parked cars. The weather was kind, dry and even some sun at the end too.

For the Birders among us, there were over 50 Purple Sandpipers and hundreds of Golden Plover. The large brown duck in with all the Widgeon was a domestic escapee enjoying a bid for freedom on the sea far from any habitations.

The walkers then left for Sheila Fleet's cafe and a well earned lunch.

The next meeting will be on Friday 8th February at a time and place to be decided nearer the day when I have some idea as to the weather.

Keep striding out, Tim.
