Our new Orkney Communities Satellite WebsiteWelcome to our website. The Stronsay Development Trust will be updating this site on a regular basis with information regarding our activities. Stronsay is home to a thriving island community of about 375 people who for centuries have had to adapt to the changing world. The Stronsay Development Trust is a community-based organisation formed in August 2004. The Trust is charged with promoting the sustainability of our fragile community by gathering ideas from the residents, identifying projects, and turning these into fully- realised community assets. Like many small island populations, Stronsay has seen issues such as high energy costs, changing economic priorities, and sub-standard services leading to depopulation, especially amongst young people. The Trust is actively engaged in improving the quality of life and providing greater opportunities for members of the community. If you would like to become a "Friend of Stronsay" and support some of our projects please follow this link. The Stronsay Development Trust is funded by our generous supporters: HIE Orkney, the Orkney Islands Council, OCPP, Communities Scotland, and the Crofter's Commission.
