The Partners
The Scheme has been overseen by a Steering Group chaired by Orkney Islands Council, on which the RSPB and Scottish Natural Heritage are also represented. A Stakeholder Forum has been held each summer, in Hoy in August 2010, in St Margaret's Hope in August 2011, with the final one having been held in Flotta in September 2012.
Several of the projects in the Scheme have been run by other organisations. These include the Orkney Woodland Group, the Orkney Yole Association, South Ronaldsay Boy's Ploughing Match Committee, Longhope Lifeboat Museum Trust, Stromness Museum, the Friends of the Hoy Kirk and the St Magnus Festival. A number of bodies within the Council are also heavily involved, including Orkney College, Orkney Museums & Heritage Service and the Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology.
The Heritage Lottery Fund is the main funder for the Scheme, having awarded over £1.3m. In addition Orkney Islands Council, Scottish Natural Heritage, RSPB, Talisman Energy, LEADER, European Regional Development Fund, Historic Scotland, the Robertson Trust, the Hoy Trust, the John M Archer Charitable Trust, the Friends of Longhope Lifeboat Museum and the Wild Trout Trust are also funding the Scheme. As a result, the Scheme will spend over £2m between 2009 and 2012.
