Orkney Zerowaste backs European Week for Waste Reduction - November 19th to 27th
Orkney Zerowaste is getting set to play its part in the third European Week for Waste Reduction next week with a ‘scrumptious’ local event to encourage people to reduce the amount of waste they produce. We want to raise awareness of how small changes can make a big difference to the amount of waste produced in Orkney.
What is it all about?
The European Week for Waste Reduction week (EWWR) focuses on highlighting waste reduction activities across Europe and raising awareness of ways to reduce our waste. This year it is taking place from the 19th to the 27th of November.
How is Orkney Zerowaste involved?
In partnership with Orkney College, we have organised a FREE local produce tasting evening titled
Love Food – Think Local!
During this interactive evening we bring together local producers and consumers with the aim of raising awareness about food waste, the benefits of buying local produce, and how food producers in Orkney do their own bit in reducing waste.
There will be free tastings provided by local food producers, a cookery demonstration by a top local chef with practical tips on how to reduce food waste at home, and an interactive ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ information stand with games and advice provided by our own volunteers.
Adults and children are invited to come along to the Orkney College restaurant, on
Monday 21st November
6.30pm to 8.30pm.
We look forward to seeing you there!
