Riding Club Show
Orkney Riding Club held its Open Show on Saturday 4th June at the last-minute venue of the Market Stance. Despite worries about parking with around 100 entries, thanks to everyone's co-operation all trailers were successfully parked with plenty of room to get in and out. The four judges on the day were Bridget Millington in the Ridden Showing, Alex Henderson & Mary Elder in the Working Hunter, and Abbey Edwards in the Inhand and RC/PC Ring.  At the end of the day the four judges put their heads together to decide on the overall show champion, which was awarded to the Flett & Carmichael Ridden Champion Retanach Grandee ridden by Leona Norquay, and the overall reserve went to the Northvet Working Hunter champion Buster ridden by Britt Bichan. The Club is delighted to see some qualifiers who'll be going through to the Blair Castle Working Hunter Finals in August - Jo Donaldson & Woodlands Bay qualified for both the SNE/BHS Scotland Riding Club Series and the Tullibardine Contractors Open Int WH, Katie Coward also qualified for two classes, the SNE/BHS Scotland Riding Club Series and the Stewarts Building Service/BHS WH Series.  Vicki Cursiter riding Toots Cromarty's Pitmedden Havra  qualified for the SNE/BHS Scotland Riding Club WH Series, and Kelly Reid riding Cassie qualified for the Tullibardine Contractors Open WHP Final. The RC Committee thanks everyone who helped with the show, but say a special mention must go to Julie Garriock, Angela Dougherty, Jill Spence & Erica Tait who did a great job on the day, and also to Better Bite and the Emergency Care Group, and to the Shetland competitors who made the trip south to take part.
