We've been approached by someone with the idea of creating a 'walk up the Kirkwall street', possibly as an OHS publication.  It could cover as many time periods as folk think appropriate.  For instance, most of us will remember Woolworths but what was in that building before them?  Are there any photographs of what happened after the Albert Kinema closed its doors?  Does anyone remember the sweetie shop that used to be where Little Island is now?  Any thoughts would be appreciated - either contact us via our email or through the Contact Us page on this site.   You can also contact us via our Facebook page (link to the bottom left of this page).

Sadly, the Research in Progress Conference planned to take place in May 2013 has been cancelled. 

The Orkney Heritage Society will be organising its third Research in Progress Conference in May of this year.  If you are involved in research on any subject and would like to talk to us about it, we'd love to hear from you.

The proposed date of the conference is 18 and 19 May, and it will be held in Kirkwall.
