May update

by Barbara McVean - 14:07 on 24 May 2010

Hi folks,

Sorry that I haven’t updated in such a while, since I have gotten back I have mainly been focused on getting better.  It was so hard leaving Bolivia, leaving my friends and children that I worked with.  After a tearful goodbye I headed up to Charlotte, North Carolina for a couple of weeks to visit my friends.  I then flew back to London, and finally made it back to Orkney.  Since arriving I have been resting a lot, because of my dizzy spells I haven’t been able to do much else!  Thankfully I seem to be much better, especially since I have been able to get out and about in Stromness.  I just love getting out walks around the shore.  It makes the world of difference getting out in the fresh Orkney air.

This summer I shall mainly be resting and getting completely better, and at the end of August my mum, dad, sister and I are all heading out to Bolivia for a month and a half.  I can’t wait to show my family where I have been for the past 4 and a half years!   Even though I am not physically in Bolivia at the moment, Helping Hands are still providing funding to projects over there.  We have just given Performing Life for health and dental care for 12 street children for a year.  Here is the link to their website it you want to check it out.

Before I go, I would like to thank the Stromness Chip Shop for being amazing fundraisers.  To date they have raised 3894.65 – thank you so much to everyone who has donated over the years!
