New Summer Services
Posted on 27 March 2012

OCTO are delighted to announce some new services, which we shall be operating over the summer of 2012.

First to get going is the Cruise Liner Shuttle Service. With the first liner of the season docking on 30th April, we will be providing the vital link between the Cruise Ships berth out at Hatston and the centre of Kirkwall for all the passengers who have decided not to go on a pre-arranged tour.

Our other big tourist based project is the Hop-on Hop-off Explorer Service. We are still finalising details, but this service will operate via all of the sites which make up Orkney's World Heritage Site, as well as Kirkwall, Stromness and parts of the West Mainland which aren't reached by our existing service. It will be seasonal, running from the 1st of June to the 31st of August on every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. We hope it will prove to be a valuable service for local folk and visitors alike.

Finally, we are also re-launching our Kirkwall Flexible Service on a Wednesday. The flexible service will now operate from 11am till 5pm every Wednesday and bookings can be taken by calling 871536 between 9am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday. It is currently going through the approval process with the traffic commission and Transport Scotland, and all being well, will start operation from the middle of May. We hope our customers, the local members of the public, understand the need to reduce the service from 3 days a week to 1, and are still keen to take advantage of the door-to-door service which we provide.
