Welcome to OCTOWe are a local company set up to meet the ever changing transport needs of all members of Orkney's community. Our speciality is to run Flexible routes so anyone can get picked up near where they live and dropped off near where they want to go. In addition, we are also expanding our Bus and Minibus hire to serve local community groups, as well as providing a service to tourist groups. Because we are a "Community Interest Company" (cic. for short) any surpluses or profits remain in the community, either getting reinvested in the company to make us better at providing transport, or get donated to our partners, Orkney Disability Forum, who operate the Dial-a-bus service. We've just passed 3 years in operation now running the Flexible Route 13 service, which links parts of the West Mainland to Finstown and then on to Kirkwall via the Old Finstown Road. This has been a very successful undertaking, with passenger numbers continuing to increase week on week. We operated a pilot flexible service within the Kirkwall 30mph zone, carrying over 3,000 passengers. However, it wasn't sustainable in it's existing forms, and was stopped to allow us to come up with better ideas. We are now hoping to run the service, but at more targetted times to allow people to get out and about for their weekly shopping or attend popular social groups - details of this will be revealed once they're finalised. Another part of the business going from strength to strength is our private hires. We now have our 40 seat bus (34 seat-belts) to go along with our 25 seat vehicle and the minibuses, with all vehicles wheel-chair friendly. We are now operating the Cruise Liner Shuttle Service from Hatston Pier into Kirkwall throughout the summer. We're really excited about this project and playing such an integral role in Orkney's tourist industry.
