What have we done to date:    In September 2006 we launched NHSO Creating Sustainable Services Programme. Briefings were held for Staff, Councillors, MSP and MP and the media.
The Programme Board oversaw the work of the programme team.
The Programme Team spent nine months finding out background information.  This is the first time NHS Orkney has had all the necessary information about current patient conditions and predicted numbers for the next 10 years.  The CSSP Project Team has been replaced by the Shaping Up Project Team to lead on the implementation of the CSSP recommendations.
The Community Reference Group – This is a small group of people from our Public Engagement Network NHSOpen.  They advise us on who we should consult with and how.
The Clinical Reference Group – This group was made up of local clinicians. The membership also had clinical representation from other areas to bring their expertise and experience.
Consultation Process  - NHS Orkney Board at its meeting on 11 December 2007 supported the principle that options will be tailored to individual islands subject to their unique circumstances, rather than looking at a single solution for the isles.   As this is 'major service change' the Board is required to follow a statutory consultation process and is presently awaiting notification from the Scottish Government whether independent scrutiny will be required.
