Involving People

NHS Orkney is committed to working with you to make Orkney a healthy place to live. To improve the health and healthcare services, and to build a modern local health system fit for a 21st century population.

This means the Board, managers and staff working together and working with patients, partner organisations and communities, on the issues that affect their health. This is not just on major service change but also on the day to day work of NHS Orkney and its services.

Getting Involved

There are a number of ways that you can be involved including:

  • Patients being active partners in decisions about their own treatment and care.
  • Listening to people who use specific services, or who have common needs.
  • Working with local communities to improve local services
  • Involving people of different age groups to make services easier for them to use.
  • Listening to people who have special needs – such as disability, ethnicity, disadvantages or other circumstances.
  • Fully involving those who are providing day-to-day care, including front line staff, volunteers and carers

If you are interested in getting involved, you can join NHSOpen by completing the application form and Fair for all Monitoring Form.  Or to find out more about NHSOpen contact:
