The archaeological project run by ORCA, focussing on Cantick and Hoy, has secured funding for 2012 from the OIC Heritage Fund. The project will be split into two blocks and aims to continue the community training started in previous years: 14 - 18th May 2012: training in geophysical survey at the square barrow cemeteries at Groups, Braebuster, and survey at the Iron Age souterrain and Whaness burn enclosure. Click here for more details 3 - 7th September 2012 (TBC): training in excavation and walkover survey at Cantick. The aim is to investigate other key sites on the peninsula, following the completion of the excavations at the Roeberry mound, and continue the walkover survey up the coast. Posted on 09 May 2012 |
