Welcome to the East Mainland Gardeners website .
We are a group of enthusiastic gardeners, mainly living and gardening in the East Mainland of Orkney, a group of islands lying off the north coast of Scotland. The weather here in Orkney can be very windy and therefore shelterbelts are desirable if gardening is to be successful.
The club was formed in 2003 "to promote the interest of gardening among individuals resident in Orkney" and we have 70 members.
We would be pleased to hear from other gardening clubs in Orkney, or further afield, with a view to having exchange visits or joint events.
We welcome members from any part of Orkney, but would especially welcome new members from Kirkwall, St Ola, Holm, Tankerness, Toab and Deerness areas.
The annual membership fee is currently £10, but visiting non-members can also attend our open meetings paying a fee of £2 per visit.
