Community Wind Turbine

It has become clear that the priority, over the next 2 years must be to progress the establishment of the community owned wind turbine. The foundations are due to be laid the turbine to be erected in 2012.

The provision of such a community asset and the income that it will generate will secure the future of the Partnership to further the aims of the Eday Development Plan and will progress the specific actions identified under the Community Wind Turbine spend survey (Dec 2007) and community plan review (Jan 2008):

  • Reduction of fuel poverty through the provision of insulation and glazing for Eday householders. (Home Insulation Scheme addressed insulation issues in Homes in 2011).
  • Continuation of Eday Ranger post.
  • Investment in Community Enterprise.
  • Creation of affordable housing and associated croft land.
