Orkney Communities CRUSE Bereavement Care | text version | sitemap | log in

CRUSE is a national organisation, the largest of its type in the world. It exists to offer support to the bereaved through counselling and social activities.

Orkney branch of CRUSE was started in 1991 and has since grown steadily. While subscribing to the standards and values of the parent organisation, the Orkney branch is run by volunteers from the Orkney community.

The Orkney Branch is seeking Volunteer Counsellors, qualified to provide counselling support to bereaved people in Orkney. By volunteering you would be joining a dedicated team committed to helping bereaved people in Orkney. The branch also has an active social side supporting the goals of Cruse Orkney.

Counsellors must have:

(i)A recognised counselling/therapist training supervised at the standard recommended by the professional body of which they are a member.
(ii)Successfully completed the CBCS specialist skill training or an equivalent training acceptable to the CBCS training committee.
We would also welcome applications from individuals who do not meet the criteria described in (ii) above but who would be prepared to be trained to this standard.
Successful applicants will be expected to provide a minimum of 5 hours of counselling per month.
